Physical Education Outline

Course Description:

The Middle School Physical Education program is an integral part of the total educational process.  The program provides students with the knowledge and skills essential for participation in lifetime activities.  The goal of physical education courses is to provide a framework in which students can develop physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally through physical activity. The physical education courses will provide opportunities for students to gain knowledge, enhance physical health and fitness levels, develop motor and social skills and acquire habits which promote a healthy life style.

 

Curriculum Outline:

 

Tuesday & Thursday: Fitness Day

This portion of the course introduces the principles and activities for the development of optimal levels of fitness. Students will participate in activities which focus on cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, agility, flexibility, power and speed. 

Every Other Friday: Game Day

Every other Friday will be designated as a ‘fun day’ where students will be introduced to a variety games and activities other than the designated units of study.

Policies & Procedures

P.E. Uniforms: Students are required to have a change of clothing.

(Bottom line is we must have a CHANGE OF CLOTHES (shirt and shorts) for class.)

 

Lockers: Each student will be given a locker to keep P.E. clothes and personal items locked in during class.

 

Illness or Injury: All excuses must be given to your instructor prior to class.

 

Class Procedure: Students will be given approximately 5 minutes at the beginning and end of period to prepare for next class.
